Accessibility Statement

We want every visitor to this site to be able to learn about our work, find what they need, and reach us — regardless of how they access the web. This page explains what we’ve done to support that, and how to tell us if we’ve fallen short.

Our goal

Our goal is to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA across this website. WCAG 2.1 AA is the widely-recognized standard for digital accessibility and is referenced by most U.S. and California accessibility laws and guidance.

Reaching full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance is an ongoing effort. We’re committed to it, and we welcome feedback when we miss the mark.

What we’ve done so far

Specific accessibility measures we’ve built into this website include:

• Semantic HTML: Pages use proper landmark elements (<header>, <main>, <nav>, <footer>) and a logical heading hierarchy so assistive technology can navigate the page structure.
• Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields, the mobile menu) are reachable and operable with a keyboard.
• Visible focus states: Focused elements have a visible outline so keyboard users can see where they are on the page.
• Color contrast: Text and important interface elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
• Alternative text: Informative images have descriptive alt attributes. Purely decorative images are marked as decorative so assistive technology can skip them.
• Form labels: Every form field on our contact page has a visible, programmatically associated label.
• Aria attributes: Navigation landmarks, breadcrumbs, the form status banner, and other interactive components use ARIA attributes where appropriate.
• Responsive design: The site reflows for small screens and supports browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
• Reduced motion: Animations are subtle and short, with no auto-playing video or carousel.

Known limitations

We’re open about the parts that aren’t perfect:

• Photo alt text on past project photos may vary in descriptive quality. We’re working through them.
• PDF documents (if any are added) may not yet be tagged for screen readers. If you need an accessible version of any document on this site, contact us.
• Third-party content — for example, Google Fonts — is outside our direct control, though we’ve chosen vendors that meet accessibility standards.

Compatibility

This website is designed to be compatible with recent versions of:

• Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari on desktop and mobile
• NVDA and JAWS screen readers on Windows
• VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
• TalkBack on Android

If you use an older browser or assistive technology that isn’t fully supported, parts of the site may not work as intended. Let us know if you run into anything broken.

If you encounter any accessibility barrier — something hard to read, hard to navigate, hard to use with your assistive technology — please tell us. We take feedback seriously and we’ll work to fix specific issues, usually within a few business days for things we can address quickly.

Formal complaint

If you don’t feel we’ve responded adequately to an accessibility concern you’ve raised, you have the right to file a complaint with applicable accessibility regulators. In California, that may include the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing. We’d prefer to resolve issues directly, but we respect your right to escalate.
